Common nuisance species Wild animals that can cause problems in homes, gardens or yards include armadillos, skunks, boars, foxes, squirrels, snakes, rats, groundhogs, beavers, opossums, raccoons, bats, moles, deer, mice, coyotes, bears, ravens, seagulls, woodpeckers and pigeons.

One such animal is the raccoon, which is known for rummaging through trash cans and causing a mess. Raccoons are highly adaptable and can live in urban areas, making them a frequent visitor to residential neighborhoods. Another common nuisance animal in Ohio is the skunk.

Properly licensed hunters may use an air rifle to shoot rabbits, squirrels, grouse, ground hogs, raccoons, skunks, opossums, pheasants, and crows.

Nuisance groundhogs can be live-trapped and relocated with permission of the landowner. If you choose not to relocate the groundhog, they can either be released on-site where the animal was originally trapped or you may humanely kill it.
